However, the length of Slovenia is very small which is estimated around 47 km. Even though the coastal is very small, it provides many history and recreations. Koper is one of the three cities that are rich in Venetian history and cultures. The other two cities are Izola and Piran. With remarkable sceneries of busy ports and white sand beaches, Koper provides the tourists or visitors a way to Slovenian coast until the gill. The sea in Koper is fewer packed out compared to Piran. The only place for real seaside resorts that is close by is Ankaran, which is next by Koper and is placed to the north of Koper Bay. The most important thing to do when tourists or visitors are in Koper is to walk around Koper medieval town. Plenty of churches and residential areas are still in the original structures and carries the pure atmospheres of past Koper especially when it reaches its glory days. Even now the buildings in Koper still left untouch but the marks of its history still goes on which is one of the advantages for history lovers to wander around the city maybe for hours. The city core of Koper is a set of connections of narrow streets which is mostly paved with stones and it has been polished from past to present. However, the paved stones turn out to be dangerous when it is wet. The streets are so small even at middle of the day especially in summer where everyone will finds a way to be under their shade. In addition, one of the most beautiful sights that visitors and travelers have to see is the Winged Lion of St. Mark. It presents the view of a winged lion facing an opened book. This symbol represent the glory years of Koper where it used to be declared by the Venetian Republic as a wealthy city. Also, this symbol was inspired by Koper medieval forts. However, it is hard to find a lion with a closed book where it represents the negative part of the Koper which means that the town is under attack. The township of Koper has many of visible old buildings if one takes a walk from the ports of Ukmarjev districts which is in the east direction of Kidrive Ulica Trg. The city core of Koper is known as the Old Town. |
